2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Results: 19-Year-Old Gimbel Wins
One of the first live poker tournaments of the year also happens to be one of the biggest, and that’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, held every January at the high class Atlantis Resort in the luxurious Bahamas. This year’s event started off strong on January 4 with some exciting early events, but of course all eyes were on the main event – especially when the player pool of 1,529 was whittled down to a final table that was so packed with poker talent.
The winner of the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was Harrison Gimbel, known online as gibler321, who outlasted everyone, down to his final heads-up opponent, second place winner Ty Reiman, winner of the recent Heartland Poker Tour Main Event who came into this event with a lifetime poker winnings already of $1 million. Gimbel won $2.2 million for his work, Reiman won $1.75 million.
The 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure broke many records, including the one for the largest player field in a PCA Main Event. The other big record broken at the 2010 PCA was by Gimbel, its winner, as he is only 19 years old, making him the youngest player ever to win the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure Main Event.
Other than Barry Shulman, owner of CardPlayer Magazine and reigning World Series of Poker Europe champion, all of the final table competitors were 25 years of age or under. Shulman managed to make a worthy 3rd place showing, claiming $1.35 million for his efforts. And even fourth place winner Benjamin Zamani walked away with a cool mil.
