Berlin Newest City Added to PokerStars EPT Schedule

For the last 3 years running, the European Poker Tour, Europe’s largest poker tournament event, hosted each year by Poker Stars, held its Germany event in Dortmund. But not this coming year.

For the first time in the history of the PokerStars European Poker Tour, the EPT Germany event is set to take place in the country’s capitol city of Berlin, March 2nd through 7th. It’s got the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) ahead of it January 4th through 14th, the EPT Deauville event January 20th through 25th, and the EPT Copenhagen event February 16th through 21st.

The city of Berlin is pulling out all the stops for this event, with Pokerfloor and Spielbank Berlin chipping in along with the PokerStars gang to have a 2,000 square-meter glass palace built just for the event at Potsdamer Platz on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz. This palace will seat 1,000 players, the player cap for the event that is slated to include the Season 5 winner of EPT Germany, and a Berliner herself, Sandra Naukjos, and Boris Becker an official Team PokerStars Sports Star, as well as all the members of Team PokerStars Germany.

Another first for the EPT Germany event is the grand prize, and guaranteed €1 million. The EPT Berlin main event has a buy-in of €5,300.

The last two new cities added to the EPT circuit – Kyiv and Vilamoura – were both smashing successes, so PokerStars has every reason to be optimistic for this event. And with such a high first prize and relatively small player-cap, so do the players.
