More Big News Over At Poker Stars WCOOP

There is so much excitement over at the PokerStars WCOOP (as we said yesterday) that one day’s post isn’t nearly enough to cover it all. And the series isn’t even over yet!

But already there have been some notable achievements (beyond World Poker Tour champ Eugene Katchalov’s win of Heads Up event) that we have yet to mention, most notably these:

  • Ryan “g0lfa” D’Angelo (another golfing poker star?) has become only the second person ever in the 8-year history of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker to win two events in the same series. First was Kyle “kw0b20″ Bowker who won two events in 2006 (after a player by the name of “spwang” was the first to win two WCOOP period – 1 in 2005; 1 in 2006). Now, Ryan D’Angleo takes his place in PokerStars history winning Event #18, the Mixed Holdem event (for a $50,250 prize) and then Event #29, the Mixed Pot Limit Holdem/Omaha event(for a $69,245 prize). His lifetime winnings now total $730,000, which include a 3rd place finish in Event #48 of the 2008 WCOOP.
  • Meanwhile, . Raymond “raydavis77″ Davis became the player to win the first ever WCOOP Badugi event, for a $21,432 prize and, more importantly, a place in the PokerStars history logs as well. Three Team PokerStars Pros cashed in this event.
  • Also giving Team PokerStars Pros a good name is PokerStars Germany pro George Danzer, who won WCOOP Event #19,the 6-Max Pot Limit Omaha event.
