Cake Poker To Introduce New Tournament Schedule

Lee Jones of Cake Poker has announced that it’s putting out a new and improved online poker tournament schedule soon, and it’s very excited about the changes. The site enlisted the aid and expertise of MTT pros (multi-table tournament) Serge “adanthar” Ravitch and Eric “rizen” Lynch to come up with the best and most beneficial upgrades they can. Here is a brief overview of what you can expect from the soon-to-be overhauled Cake Poker tournament schedule.

There will be a longer period for late registration. The more the merrier is the logic here. Get more people into the tournaments, increase the prize pool.

The abundance of rebuy and addon tournaments will be replaced with more freezeouts. This was done because rebuys and addons gave extra (and arguably unfair) advantages to players with deeper pockets.

The site has also rescheduled the time slots for its tournaments so as to allow Cake Poker players to compete in both their favorite Cake Poker tournaments and their favorite tournaments on competing sites scheduled at similar times. Following from a NASCAR and bike racing practice, they call this drafting; though a more descriptive term might be “piggy-backing”. The idea is to allow players to have their cake and eat it too, playing in all their favorite online poker tournaments and still be able to have a life too.

These changes follow on the heels of Cake Poker signing Lee Jones, former PokerStars Poker Room Manager, as its new Chief Operating Officer (aka Card Room Manager).
