Coming Soon To A Cell Phone Near You: Cake Poker Mobile
Now not only can you have your cake and eat it too, but you can eat it on-the-go if you so choose. Cake Poker has now made its popular poker room available to members on their compatible smartphones. By compatible, we mean: Windows Mobile smartphones (i.e. Motorola Q series and HTC Touch series). Versions for Symbian smartphones and Blackberries are coming soon, CakePoker promises (expected around this Fall, ‘09).
The BETA version (pre-release testing version, open to the public) of Cake Poker Mobile, as it’s called, is currently available for download from the Cake Poker site. Just go to mobile.cakepoker.com/m and you’re on your way! Once downloaded, the Cake Poker icon can be found on your Windows Mobile smartphone’s Start menu.
To start playing poker on your smartphone, you log in to your Cake Poker account by clicking “Start Playing”. (You can also sign up for a new free–play money–account with this software, but can’t play for real money until you can get to a desktop or laptop computer for making your first deposit).
You can play both real money games and play money games on Cake Poker Mobile, but you must still turn to your desktop if you want to manage your Cake Poker Account in any way, incuding to make Deposits and Withdrawals.
Controlling game play is relatively simple and straightforward, with an equally straightforward explanation on the CakePoker site.
In future upgrades, the software will include:
* Sit ‘n’ Gos
* 4-color decks
* pre-check/pre-fold
* table position indicator
* buy-in option based on multiples of big blind
* ability to sit out and reload in-game
* optional sound effects
* total pot indicator
* better lobby
* traditional top-down table view
