Huck Seed Wins NBC National Heads-Up Championship

Sunday marked the day where Full Tilt player Huck Seed will go down in the history books as the tournament’s most successful player. He beat Vanessa Rousso in the final to take down the $500,000 first place prize and extend his record to 18 wins and 4 losses. In a tournament that presented a host of big names this is no mean feat.
Returning to the quarter finals on Sunday were successful poker players such as Daniel Negreanu, Sammy Farha, Phil Hellmuth and Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier. None of these players could win the event however as Huck Seed and Vanessa Rousso ran wild.

Rousso had a series of tough matches on her way to the final on both days of play. In the first 3 rounds she faced Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey and Paul Wasicka. It didn’t get any easier for her on the second day when she started with Daniel Negreanu. She disposed of him in similar fashion and then went on to beat Bertrand Grospellier in the semi-finals.

Huck Seed became up against David Oppenheim in the quarter finals and then proceeded to the semi finals against Sam Farha. This matchup took over two hours to complete until eventually Seed came out the winner.

After this match was completed it was now down to Seed and Rousso to compete in a best of three finals format. Seed took the early lead when he called an all in with KJ to be well ahead of Rousso’s QJ. His hand held up and he took a 1-0 lead. The second match took a little while longer to complete but it was again Seed who came out victorious. On a board of 8-3-K-10 both the players got their chips in with Seed dominating. He held K-7 vs Rousso’s J10. The hand held up to give Seed the title.
Full Tilt pro Huck Seed continued his tremendous run at this tournament to win first place and a cool $500,000. PokerStars pro Vanessa Rousso finished as the runner up to claim $250,000 for her efforts.
