Party Poker Signs Sports Star Totti, Sponsors Major Sporting Events
In yet another example of the crossing over between the world of poker and the world of sports, Party Poker has just signed another sports star to its professional player roster. Francisco Totti, Italian football player (that’s soccer to us Americans), captain of AS Roma and World Cup champion.
Totti will be representing PartyPoker.it specifically, the Italian branch of PartyPoker, primarily representing the site at promotional campaigns advertising the site and showing up for some online face time in PartyPoker.it’s various online poker tournaments.
Totti joins fellow PartyPoker pros Remy Biechel, Ian Frazer, Tony G, Dragan Galic, Felipe “Mojave” Ramos, Bodo Sbrzesny, Kara Scott, and of course the latest addition to the Poker Hall of Fame, Mike Sexton.
Party Poker has been heeding the call of sports enthusiasts who also love online poker for a while now, and has amassed quite a selection of sports-themed promotions and sponsored sporting events with online poker satellites into them.
Such promotions include:
- • the PartyPoker.net The World’s Strongest Man – strength athletics at its best
• the PGA EuroPro Tour – a developmental golf tour offering opportunities to young golfers to compete on some Europe’s greatest courses
• the PartyPoker.com Weber Cup – the best of the U.S. & Europe face-off in 10-pin bowling
• the PartyPoker.net World Pool Masters – the seminal invitational pool tournament
