Party Poker’s World Poker Tour Gets Executive Tour Director
There’s a new man in charge of the World Poker Tour and no it’s not Mike Sexton; though he’s still the beloved commentator for the WPT and sponsored pro and spokesperson for Party Poker of PartyGaming, parent company of the WPT. The new executive tour director of the World Poker Tour, just appointed, is a less familiar name, but one no less accomplished than our pal Sexton in his own right.
His name is Matt Savage, and if it sounds at all familiar to you, that’s because he is a poker veteran who has appeared in over three-hundred poker programs on television, including many broadcast on ESPN, GSN, the Travel Channel, and FOX Sports Network.
He was one of the original founders of the Tournament Directors Association, and has served in that capacity for both the Los Angeles Poker Classic and Bay 101 Shooting Star events. The title of Executive Tour Director was just created, making Savage the first to hold the position.
While he’s taking on this new responsibility, though, Savage says he won’t be shirking any of his existing ones, still committed to overseeing the LA and San Jose tournaments he handles, along with the Hard Rock Detox Poker Series coming up August 13 – 22 in Las Vegas, which is the same time period when the WPT’s Bicycle Casino Legends of Poker will be taking place in Bell Gardens, California.
The next event up on the Season 9 schedule of the World Poker Tour is the WPT Bellagio Cup VI taking place, of course, at the Bellagio Las Vegas.
Party Poker runs satellites throughout the year awarding entry into the various World Poker Tour events.
