Player Wins Poker Stars Sunday Million Twice

The winner of last weekend’s PokerStars Sunday Million, Juan Maceiras Barros, is not your ordinary PokerStars Sunday Million champ. Because this is the second time that Juan Antonio Maceiras Barros has won the event.

Barros, who goes by the username vietcong01 online, won $255,954 for this weekend’s win. Which means the Spaniard now claims $1.3 million in career winnings, in large part because of his success in the PokerStars Sunday Million.

The first time vietcong01 tromped the Poker Stars Sunday Million was back in July of 2007 when he landed a payday of $157,154.

These are by no means flukes for vietcong01 either, as he has also won several PokerStars Sunday Warmups and PokerStars Super Tuesday. And he even finished in 6th place of another PokerStars Sunday Million, this one in March of 2009.

The only other player to win the PokerStars Sunday Million twice.

The PokerStars Sunday Million is one of the 3 Sunday Major tournaments hosted by Poker Stars every week. The Sunday Million is so named because of its guaranteed $1 million prize pool. The buy-in is $215, but PokerStars holds satellites throughout the week awarding free seats into the event.

Last Sunday’s prize pool for the Sunday Million topped $1.7 million, with 8,500 registered and 1,350 being paid out. Other notable achievements in this past weekend’s event were two popular regulars at these events, Bobby “gettn deep” Hodson and Ben “Benba” Lamb, both making the final table. But they couldn’t beat vietcong01, and they couldn’t beat runner-up EgorkaV who landed $187,050.00 for his efforts.
