Poker Stars and Full Tilt Sunday Events Top $6 Million Awarded
Another Sunday has come and gone and another hadful of players are hundreds of thousands dollar richer thanks to the major Sunday tournaments at Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker. This past weekend, on Sunday the 9th of August to be precise, the two largest poker sites serving U.S. players had no overlays and gave away a record $6.1 million in winnings.
Pre-empting the usual Full Tilt Sunday Majors were three FTOPS XIII events:
* Event #8, $256 Six-Max event with a 4,644 playing field – “mikeyG16″ won the top prize of $177,419.38
* Event #9, $535 Heads-Up No Limit Holdem – “NNNobodYYY” won $72,721.0, chopping with runner-up “MrsESPN” who took the other $69,614.91 of the top prize
* Event #10, $322 No Limit Holdem with a $1,698,00 prize pool and 5,660 players competing – “t1ger heat” won for $189,318.58
Meanwhile, the PokerStars Sunday Million, Sunday Warm-Up and Sunday 500 were also going strong. PokerStars’ big winner this weekend was “h2oace” who bested a field of 8,007 players to win $244,210 of the $1.601,400 prize pool in the Sunday Million. The Sunday Warm-Up attracted 4,090 players, boasted a prize pool of $818,000, and awarded the $128,426 lions share to the winner “mellowGold11″. $94,350 of a total $555,000 prize pool went to “OGURI” for beating out the 1,109 other players in this weekend’s Sunday 500. And in the Sunday Second Chance, where 1,500 players turned out for a share of $300,000, the big winner was “bigredAK” who took the $46,635 top prize.
