Sexy Poker Site’s Ads Pulled
Here’s one kind of poker site you don’t see every day. It’s called Red Cherry Poker and it combines the two most popular online industries–gaming and adult entertainment–into one. The site recently made big headlines across the globe when, as Swank Poker then, it tried to run some advertisements that were found to be too racy and inappropriate to run.
Promising players “hot action” with “your favourite girl” who will “play as you tell her to” and even “take care of your wildest fantasies”, the site’s ads featured a buxom woman baring her cleavage and the tagline “Will you hold this pair for me?”
The ad further goes on to entice male players with novel adult-themed poker player rewards, including free tickets to sex clubs and brothels, porn movie set tours, and even a shot at a movie role with some of the Swank Poker ladies.
Another ad, with a more advertorial tone, said the following of the site: “the very best in poker action coupled with the finest erotic entertainment that the civilised world has to offer”.
Both the ad-watchdog group Advertising Standards Authority and the Remote Gaming Association have stepped in and condemned the ads, saying that they depict online poker playing as linked with sexual conquest and that they are not social responsible.
The ASA ruled to order the ads removed because they do indeed link gambling and success in sex, although the ads were not found to be socially irresponsible as they were run solely in adult magazines.
So has online poker impacted your sex life? And has it been for the better or for the worse?
