New Site Offers $10,000 to Pokerbot-Friendliest Poker Site

Here’s an unusual twist on a controversial online poker trend for you. It’s about Pokerbots, those nefarious little programs that play winning online poker on their user’s behalf. Some people love ‘em (mainly those who use them on unsuspecting opponents to cash in big). Most people hate ‘em (from the players who feel that they’ve lost unfairly, and therefore been cheated, to the online poker rooms who bear the brunt of the fallout).

But one website–a proclaimed friend to poker players and poker sites alike–has decided that it is time for pokerbots to come out of the closet. Coming obviously from the vantage point that the only problem with pokerbots is the deceptiveness in which they’re sued; that if a player knew he was sitting in at a table beside a pokerbot, he could make the choice of his own free will whether to continue playing at that table or not, the site aims to find a bridge between the online poker community and the pokerbot hobbyist.

So this site, PokerbotBasics.com has put out a call searching for the most pokerbot-friendly Texas Holdem poker site online. A pokerbot-friendly site is defined, in the site’s terms, as an online poker room that “would allow pokerbots to declare their status and play Texas Hold’em at the same table as human players.”

Poker sites of any size can submit their URLs for consideration between August 1 and December 14. Registered users of the site will each be allowed to vote for their choice of pokerbot-friendliest. On December 15, the winning site will be announced, and receive $10,000 for its achievement.
