2009 WSOP Doesn’t Overshadow Full Tilt and Poker Stars Sunday Biggies
While the live poker world was riveted to the 2009 World Series of Poker (the series’ 40th incarnation), the online poker world turned out in spades once again for weekly big money events at Full Tilt Poiker and Poker Stars.
Every week FullTilt hosts the Sunday Brawl, the Sunday $750K Guarantee, and the Sunday Mulligan. This time 2,089 players showed up for the $256 Sunday Brawl to compete for a share of the $417,800 prize pool; this week’s winner – and recipient of the $85,210.31 first prize – was “Coach9118″. In the meantime, 4,002 players turned out for the $216 Sunday $750,000 Guarantee to vie for their share of the $800,400 prize pool; the event’s winner this week was “phounder” and his prize, $141,342.64. Finally at FullTilt last Sunday, 1,140 players came out for the $216 Sunday Mulligan, battling for a share of the $228,000 prize pool; this time “Donnieslasko” was the big winner, earning the $51,300 top prize.
Meanwhile, over at PokerStars, the weekly Sunday Warm-Up and Sunday Million, both $215 events, had more than impressive turnouts, despite the influx of players to Vegas for the 2009 WSOP. Some 4,095 players showed up for the Sunday Warm-Up and its $819,000 prize pool, with the top prize of $128,583 going to “justif1ed”. The Sunday Million, meanwhile, brought out 8,766 players competing for their part of the $1,753,200 prize pool, with Rock & Fold taking the $257,895.73 top prize.
