NBC and Full Tilt Poker Help You Face the Ace for $1 Million
NBC and Full Tilt Poker have teamed to bring poker players everywhere an opportunity to compete against some of the biggest names in the game, on national television. A perfect chance for these rising young stars of poker popping out of the woodwork (or the online poker scene, really) to make a name for themselves in the big leagues and get their face out their in the public eye. Speaking of faces, that’s what this little media collaboration will be called: Face the Ace.
First, players register for the qualifer tournaments held on Full Tilt Poker. The winners will get a chance to play heads-up against one of the Full Tilt Poker Pros. The way it will work is each episode of the show (to be hosted by Steve Schirripa formerly of The Sopranos on HBO) one of these qualifier winners will face 4 doors (a la “Let’s Make a Deal”), behind each of which sits a major league poker player, like Phil Ivey or Jennifer Harman or Chris Ferguson or Mike Matusow or Andy Bloch, for example.
Whoever sits behind the door the player selects is their opponent. If the player wins that match, they can either keep the money they won or risk it all in another match against one of the other 3 pro players.
Beat all 4 pros and the contestant wins $1 million. Filming starts in Las Vegas on July 9, with the show premiering on NBC on August 1 at 9 pm ET.
To win your chance to appear on the show, you must proceed through two rounds of freerolls to get into one of 3 exclusive final qualifiers. The top 10 players from each of these 3 qualifiers gets a trip Vegas to audition for the show.
