Poker Stars 2009 WCOOP Starts Tomorrow

The latest incarnation of the Poker Stars World Championship of Online Poker, better known as the PokerStars WCOOP 2009 starts tomorrow, Thursday, September 3. It is one of the most eagerly anticipated online poker tournaments of every year, in part because it usually boast one of the biggest guaranteed prize pools of any only poker tournament series, this year topping $40 million.

Adding to the excitement, the winner of this year’s PokerStars 2009 WCOOP Main Event will land him or herself a cool $10 million. Getting in on that requires a PokerStars satellite win or the $8,200 buy-in.

Buy-ins this year’s 45 events (that’s 12 more than last year) range from $200 to $25,000. The schedule includes three high-roller events: the $10,000 HORSE Championship, the $10,000 Two-Day Event, and the $25,000 Heads-Up Championship.

As an added bonus to this year’s prize pool, every 2009 WCOOP champion (that’s any player to win the bracelet in any 2009 WCOOP event) will win, in addition to their prize-money, a free trip to compete in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (buy-in included, of course).

Some call it the World Series of Online Poker, and in fact many WSOP champions of the recent past will be present and competing right alongside the players at home. You may remember that the inaugural $25,000 event held in the 2008 WCOOP capped out and would-be competitors had to be turned away. So register as soon as you can – time is running out, but satellites are still going, so it’s not too late.
