Poker Stars Now Hosting High Heels Poker Tour
While its World Championship of Online Poker 2009 is raging strong, Poker Stars has announced that it will be sponsoring another poker series, this The High Heels Poker Tour, a live ladies-only poker tournament event.
In the 2007 High Heels Poker Tour, was formed in order to empower women as a growing, competitive force in the poker arena, and since then it’s helped discover the likes of Katja Thater, Vicky Coren, and the inimitable (truly, Go Daddy!) Vanessa Rousso.
It will be the virtual poker school branch of the world’s biggest poker site, PokerStars.net, that will be the event’s official host. PokerStars.net, the practice play, free money arm of PokerStars.com seems to be incredibly popular the female online poker demographic.
This month, the tour will hit Verona, New York’s Turning Stone Resort and Casino. In October, the tour will hit the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Dania and Tampa will also be stops on the Florida leg of this tour (pointing the fact that the High Heels Poker Tour originated there). The HHPT grand finale, with a $1,000 buy-in, will be part of the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure in January of 2010.
Although it is the .net part of the PokerStars entity that is to billed as the official sponsor, that is not to say that the .com real money part of Poker Stars won’t be offering satellites throughout the year, awarding free seats into High Heels Poker Tour events. In fact, we would bet on it.
