Poker Stars Launches New U.K. & Irish Poker Tour
Poker Stars has launched a new live poker tour, the UKIPT, or the U.K. & Ireland Poker Tour. The inaugural stop on the newest of world poker tour circuits sponsored by PokerStars will be the Irish Poker Championship taking place in December, 2009, and Season 1 of the UKIPT will continue through the EPT London £5,000 main event happening 10 months later.
One popular stop on the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour is sure to be the one held at the famed Dusk Till Dawn club in Nottingham outside London, with a buy-in of £500. Buy-ins for all UKIPT events will be intentionally kept relatively low and affordable.
Qualifiers have already begun at Poker Stars for the Irish Poker Championship, otherwise known as UKIPT Galway, happening December 11 – 14 at the Radisson Hotel with a direct buy-in of €2,000. After this event is through, qualifiers for each successive UKIPT event will continue at Poker Stars throughout the season, until the October 2 – 8, 2010 UKIPT London event at the Metropole Hotel with a £5,300 direct buy-in.
The other stops on the first ever UK & Ireland Poker Tour are:
* UKIPT Machester from February 11 to 14
* UKIPT Coventry from April 8 to 11
* UKIPT Nottingham from May 13 to 16
* UKIPT Killarney from June 24 to 27
* UKIPT Brighton from July 15 to 18
* UKIPT Scotland (date to be announced)
* UKIPT Dublin from September 9 to 12
Players can get into the PokerStars UKIPT qualifiers for nothing by simply earning enough FPPs (or Frequent Player Points) to cover the buy-in.
