PokerStars APPT Macau Coming Up

PokerStars has just released the schedule for its upcoming APPT Macau event, for which the site is running continuing satellites even today. The Macau stop on the PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour will be happening between May 3 and May 23 at the Casino Grand Lisboa in their PokerStars Macau Poker Room.

The APPT Macau is the event known in poker history for, in 2007, bringing the game of Texas Hold’em to China.. The 2010 APPT Macau is the largest live poker tournament in China this year, with 25 events spanning the three week long series.

The Main Event costs $5,160 (or $40,000 HKD) to enter. It will start at 12:10 pm on Tuesday, May 18 and run until only one player is left on Sunday, May 23. The list of players present is expected to include some of Asia’s and the world’s best high-stakes poker players.

In addition to the online satellites into the main event, PokerStars is also hosting many Step satellites live at the event itself, scheduled throughout the APPT Macau festival. Last year’s 2009 APPT Macau main event winner, Dermot Blain of Ireland, won his seat in the event in a PokerStars online satellite.

The most recent event of this 4th season of the PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour was the season opener, the APPT Manila: PAGCOR Chairman’s Cup in the Philippines, with American player Binh Nguyen surviving a 430 player playing field. With that many players the $1 million guarantee was shattered, hitting $1,042,750 with Nguyen claiming $260,700 of it.
