WPT VIP Race Is On At Party Poker

Everyone knows that the 2010 World Series of Poker is coming up soon, because every poker site (or at least every one worth its salt) is offering WSOP satellites and qualifiers. But there’s another popular big money live poker tournament series that often gets overshadowed by the WSOP, which only means better odds for players like you and me. I’m speaking of course of the WPT, or the World Poker Tour.

Starting last Wednesday, on April 7 and running through the end of the month, Party Poker is giving away free seats in the World Poker Tour events and a share of $250,000.

Throughout the last three weeks of April, 2010, Party Poker is running WPT VIP Race leader boards with a quarter of a million dollars cash being awarded across 2 different points-based tournament leaderboads. The top 200 Palladium Lounge members at the end of the race will split $150,000 and the the top 50 Elite players will split $100,000.

In addition to the large guaranteed cash prize pool up for grabs, the top 2 players on both leaderboards will win one of PartyPoker’s $15,000 WPT prize packages, granting them free entry into any 2010 WPT event of their choice, no matter where in the world it’s being held. The top 25 players will get at least $1,000 with $7,500 going to 3rd place; $5,000 to 4th place; and $4,000 to 5th.

What’s more, any player who finishes in the top 500 on the leaderboard will also receive a special invitation to participate in a 2010 World Poker Tour Freeroll to take place starting at 2 pm ET on May 9. The top prize for this WPT Freeroll is yet another $15,000 WPT prize package.
