2010 Aussie Millions Winner Crowned
The 2010 Aussie Millions is over, the main event having taken place last Sunday, January 31 at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia and a winner has been declared. It is, appropriately, another Aussie, taking the Aussie Millions title from fellow Aussie Stewart Scott (who was also present to compete in the event). This time the Aussie Millions champ is Tyron Krost, a 23 year old Sydney resident who bested a field of almost 750 players to claim the AUD $2 million payout.
The buy-in for the 2010 Aussie Millions was AUD $10,000, but top poker site PokerStars held satellite tournaments leading up to it awarding free seats in the main event.
The final table of the 2010 Aussie Millions featured a few heavy hitters in the poker world, including Annete Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, and Peter Jetten. None of them made runner-up, though. That went to Frederik Jensen who took home AUD $1.1 million for his accomplishment. Sorel Mizzi, who was the chip leader at the start of the final table, came in third for AUD $715,000.
So the Aussie Millions is done for another year, but by no means does that mean that the PokerStars satellites into major land-based poker tournaments is over. There’s still the many stops on the European Poker Tour (EPT), North American Poker Tour (NAPT), Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), and UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) to win seats to. And PokerStars has got satellites aplenty awarding seats for all of these events in spades.
