9th Annual European Poker Awards Results

The ninth annual European Poker Awards just took place this month and it brought together some of the finest minds in poker to honor their comrades and rivals for high achievement in poker over the previous year.

This year’s Player of the Year was two-time WSOP bracelet winner, including the 2009 40th Annual WSOP $40,000 buy-in high-rollers special, Vitaly Lunkin of Russia while Europe’s Leading Lady this year was Sandra Naujoks of Germany, the second woman in history to win a European Poker Tour title.

The Rookie of the Year award went to Antoine Saout of France who went deep into the final table of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Outstanding Tournament Performance went to eclectic talent Jeff Lisandro, dual resident of Italy and Australia. Jeff won 3 events in last years 2009 World Series of Poker, including the Razz event and two 7 Card Stud events, most notably the 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo World Championship.

Internet Player of the Year went to Patrik Antonius of Finland, who is still deeply enmeshed in his million dollar rivalry with Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

Although numerous poker personalities representing the United Kingdom or Ireland got nominated for European Poker Awards this year, the only one(s) to get any kudos in this year’s contest was Eddie Hearn and the Matchroom Sport Team, who reeived the Rob Gardner Award for Innovation.

The 9th European Poker Awards took place at the Aviation Club in Paris, France. A Lifetime Achievement award was also handed out that night, this going to France’s Bruno Fitoussi.
