Absolute Poker Signs Matt Vengrin
Absolute Poker has signed another player to its all-star team of sponsored poker celebrity endorsers, and it’s Matt Vengrin, a 24-year-old rising poker star whose been on everyone’s radar–from Ultimate Bet Poker to Poker Stars to Full Tilt Poker. Cumulatively from each of those three poker sites alone, in fact, Vengrin earned more than $717,000 in just a little more than 2 years time.
Ultimately it was Ultimate Bet’s sister-site in the CEREUS poker network, Absolute Poker that got him. And just in time too, because it looks like Matt Vengrin is set to really take off. In just this year, 2009, alone Matt has notchd up 5 top ten finishes in major online poker tournaments, including ninth in Event #1 of Ultimate Bet Poker’s Ultimate Bet Online Championship, $1,800 Pot Limit Omaha. He also finished first in a recent Holdem tournament that won him $61,600 and second in a $100,000 Guaranteed touranment that won him $21,327.
It takes more than just an online game to win a poker sponsorship, though. And Vengrin’s shown that he’s as good in land-based poker as he is online, with land-based winnings nearing $400,000. These include a $167,973 payday for finishing third at the 2008 World Series of Poker Event #29, an almost $10,000 win at the 2009 Aussie Millions Event #9 and $6,670 at the 2008 Aruba Poker Classic.
AbsolutePoker employs a nifty free Absolute Buddy program players can use to track where Matt Vengrin (highlighted in red under username: mattvengrin) or any other member of Team AB is playing on Absolute Poker at any given point in time.
