Bodog Bid Bonomo Bye-Bye
After a two year long sponsorship, Bodog Poker has dropped 24 year old poker pro Justin Bonomo from its Team Bodog Poker roster. After joining Evelyn Ng and David Williams in 2007 as the next member of Team Bodog Poker, Bonomo officially parted ways with the Bodog Team as of last Wednesday, January 7.
Rumors that Justin quit the Bodog Poker Team can be put to rest as he assured his fans and the press that no such thing occurred. Justin was quoted as saying that he is now seeking sponsorship from a poker site that will better utilize his poker playing ability and his media presence.
Bonomo’s wasn’t the only Team Bodog Poker stint cut short. Only two months prior, Bodog also let Jean-Robert Bellande go from the team.
You may have played against Justin under the username ZeeJustin. He got his start in poker playing online, making his big break into live poker (and the poker celebrity scene) when in 2005 he made the final table of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Deauville, France event, making him the youngest player at the time to have made a live televised poker tournament final table.
The only controversy that surrounded Bonomo occurred before Bodog Poker signed him, a multi-accounting scandal for which he made a public apology.
At the time that Bodog Poker dropped him, Justin Bonomo’s career live tournament winnings totalled some $2.3 million.
David Williams and Evelyn Ng are now the only two remaining players on Team Bodog Poker, though the site promises to add some new names to the roster this year.
