Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo Unbanned at PokerStars

Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo’s online poker account at PokerStars was reinstated just in time for it’s inaugural Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP).  Bonomo is currently a sponsored pro at Team Bodog.

The name “ZeeJustin” might not ring a bell for younger online poker players, but those of us who have been around the online poker scene a while associate Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo with one of the original online poker scandals.  PokerStars banned Bonomo after he used multiple accounts on PartyPoker in 2006, which was then legal in the United States.  The 23 year old poker professional was a rising star in the online poker world when it was discovered that he was logging into multiple accounts on Party Poker — some even at the same table.

It was revealed that ZeeJustin was using a total of six accounts simultaneously on Party Poker.  He made a public apology at the time stating that he was young and simply made a judgement mistake in a quest to play more tournaments at a time and make more money.  He had hundreds of thousands of dollars in tournament winnings revoked by PartyPoker.com and was banned from the site.  Pokerstars followed suit by banning Bonomo and Cake Poker banned ZeeJustin as well.

Recently, many high profile poker pros have lobbied Pokerstars to lift the ban on the young poker superstar including some of Pokerstars.com’s most well known faces: Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, and Barry Greenstein as well as ESPN poker columnist Gary Wise.  These players believe that ZeeJustin has paid his due after being banned for three years.  Justin Bonomo has placed high in many online and live poker tournaments with lifetime poker winnings well over $1 million.
