Poker Hall of Fame Update: Negreanu, Brunson Make Their Picks While One Nominees Makes November Nine
Last we mentioned the Poker Hall of Fame, we were telling you that top poker site PokerStars is endorsing Tom McEvoy for induction this November when the names of the newest inductees will be revealed during the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table.
Well now two other major players in poker have had their say – one of them a nominee himself – and both are in agreement that one of the new honorees should be Mike Sexton. Fellow-nominee Daniel Negreanu says that Sexton is the only nominee who meets all 5 of the official criteria for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame, with particular respect paid to criterion #5 regarding contributing to the game of poker. For that alone, Negreanu says, Seston “simply has no equal”.
The other well-respected name in poker to come out in support of Mike Sexton getting the nod he deserves is the Godfather of Poker himself, Doyle Brunson.
Meanwhile, one of the other nominees, and a popular favorite, happens to be among the elite November Nine who will be facing off in the big showdown at the 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table. That is, of course, none other than Phil Ivey. With all of Ivey’s previous poker winnings, if he wins this year’s WSOP Main Event, he alone will account for half of the world poker economy.
The other finalists nominated for consideration to be inducted this year into the Poker Hall of Fame are: Tom Dwan, Barry Greenstein, Dan Harrington, Men Nguyen, Scotty Nguyen, and Eric Seidel.
