Poker Stars Adds Ville Wahlbeck To The Team

Today, Monday, June 7, 2010 Poker Stars announced the addition of Ville Wahlbeck to the site’s esteemed team of sponsored professional poker players, Team Poker Stars.

At 34 years old and hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Ville Whalbeck is a WSOP bracelet winner having won the $10,000 Mixed Game Championship at the 2009 World Series of Poker. That win alone landed him $492,384, an amount he nearly doubled by making 3 additional final tables at last year’s WSOP. Additionally he cashed in still 2 more, for 6 cashes in the 2009 WSOP in all, including in 2-7 Lowball, 7 Card Stud, and H.O.R.S.E., showing himself as an eclectic and multi-talented poker pro indeed, despite that it took him 6 years to garner public notice. None too late, this sweep made Ville one of only 3 players to be able to claim that many 2009 WSOP cashes, which landed him the title of runner-up for the World Series of Poker Player of the Year Award.

Ville Whalbeck also won the high roller event at the 2009 Baltic Poker Festival. And in a stroke too perfect to be coincidence, Ville Wahlbeck will be making his debut public appearance as a representative of Team PokerStars Pro, later in the month at this year’s incarnation of the same event, the 2010 PokerStars Baltic Festival, from June 16 to 19 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Ville Wahlbeck joins last year’s WSOP Main Event Champion, Joe Cada, along with Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Rousso, and others on Team PokerStars in live and online poker events throughout the world and all through the year.
