Russian Poker Stars Player Sets New World Record: Most Number Of Hands Played
While so much online poker attention is being fixated on the ongoing battle of Tom Dwan, Isildur1, Patrik Antonius, and a select few others on Full Tilt Poker. Among all this news is frequent notice of a major world record being broken (like the $1.1 million pot won by Patrik Antonius against Isildur1).
But over at PokerStars they’re breaking records too, and last Saturday another such moment took place when a Russian player going by the user name of innerspy broke the record for playing the most number of hands of online poker in a 24 hour sitting. Confirmed by both PokerStars and independent sources, innerspy played 40,088 hands in one 24-hour day’s time. What’s more, those were apparently consecutive hands (or close to it), as innerspy played for 18 hours and 33 minutes straight to notch up that record breaking hand history before giving himself a rest.
To answer many people’s first question about this feat – did he do this on purpose – the answer is: Yes. Although he never played more than 20,000 in one sitting before, innerspy told PokerStars, when Russian Card Game Master announced they were going to host this challenge on PokerStars, he decided that he was going to break the world record for the most number of hands played in a 24 hour period, and did just that.
How well did he do in those hands? Well, that’s a whole other story.
But one thing is for sure – this takes innerspy a heck of a lot closer to his stated goal of reaching Poker Stars Supernova Elite status.
