UltimateBet Star Player Matt Graham Picks Up 2nd WSOP Bracelet

Matt Graham, member of Ultimate Bet Poker’s Star Players Team as of this past March 2009, has earned his second World Series of Poker bracelet. The first time it was Event #53 of the 2008 WSOP, a Limit Holdem Shootout for a $278,000+ payout. This time it was Event #40, the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha World Championship, besting a field of 295 including a final table featuring Barry Greenstein, Josh Arieh, and Vitaly Lunkin, and walking away with the gold bracelet and $679,402. Howard Lederer and David Williams almost made the final table too, placing 12th and 16th, respectively.

Ultimately the PLO World Championship battle came down to Graham and Lunkin, who had just won the 2009 WSOP 40th Anniversary $40,000 event and cashed-in at the $10,000 Mixed Game World Championship. Lunkin had to settle for runner-up in Event #40, though, and its $419,832 payout. Matt Graham, meanwhile, is earning his reputation among WSOP tournament officials of being “The Comeback Kid”, having recovered from an 9:1 chip disadvantage in this event and an 8:1 disadvantage in2008.

A 25-year-old former pre-med student, Graham has already amassed a total career winnings of almost $2.5 million, with over $1 million of that coming from World Series of Poker events alone. Other parts of that career total come from big wins in both the 2008 World Poker Challenge and the 2008 Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
