ESPN Airs New Poker Series Leading Up to 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table

In anticipation of the upcoming 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table taking place in November, starting tonight, Tuesday, August 4, and running up to that critical night, leading cable sports network ESPN is introducing into its lineup a new weekly half-hour poker TV show called “ESPN Inside Deal”. Presented by PokerStars.net, the program will interview many of today’s biggest poker stars, discuss handss from ESPN’s 2009 WSOP coverage never-before-seen, recount all the current poker news, and hold poker Q&As with viewers.

Hosting ESPN Inside Deal will be:

* Andrew Feldman, ESPN.com poker editor
* Laura Lane, ESPN The Magazine contributor
* Bernard Lee, poker professional

Headlining the premiere episode of the mini-series (as it were) will be an interview with none other than the man who first showed the world that an online poker qualifier can indeed win the big prize, 2003 WSOP Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker. He and several other recent winners (up through the most recent, 2008 WSOP Main Event Champ Peter Eatgate) won their seats through PokerStars satellites.

As a buildup to the big event in November, the show also plans to give viewers a better knowledge of the other players at the final table besides the favorite (and a FullTilter, actually, Phil Ivey).

ESPN also promises that the show will feature a secret contest that will allow viewers a special way to watch the 2009 WSOP Final Table, though they’re keeping a tight seal on details until the program first airs. We’ll see you there!

PokerStars.net, incidentally, is the free poker training site, sister-site to the real money poker site PokerStars.com.
