Huck Seed Wins 2010 WSOP Tournament of Champions

One of the most hotly anticipated events of this year’s World Series of Poker was the Tournament of Champions, the singular gold braceleted event at the 2010 WSOP that holds as its prime requirement for entry that all contestants must have won at least one WSOP gold bracelet already at some point in their poker careers. The winner of this year’s championship of champions was Huck Seed.

Huck Seed, who won the 1996 WSOP Main Event, beat out runner-up Howard “The Professor” Lederer for the 2010 Tournament of Champions title. Seed took $500K for his win, Lederer $250K for taking runner-up. The other players at that final table included third-place finisher Johnny Chan (for $100K), fourth place Joe Hachem (for $25K), fifth place Barry Greenstein (for $25K), sixth place Daniel Negreanu (for $25K), seventh place Jennifer Harman (for $25K), eighth place Annie Duke (for $25K), and ninth place T.J. Cloutier (for $25K).

The total player pool in this elite event was 27, and the event lasted for 3 days. With this win Huck Seed places himself in an even more elite group made up of Mike Matusow, Mike Sexton, and Annie Duke, the only other winners of a WSOP Tournament of Champions since this event’s inception.

Huck Seed came into the event with 4 WSOP gold bracelets to his credit already. He was also the 2009 winner of the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship.

Huck Seed is also one of Full Tilt Poker’s Team Full Tilt Pros. This latest $500,000 win brings his career poker earnings up to over $5.7 million.
