Jeff Lisandro Nabs Third Career WSOP Bracelet and Second This Year

With his win of 2009 World Series of Poker Event #37, the $10,000 World Championship 7-Card Stud 8 or Better High-Low event (his fourth final table this season) Jeffrey Lisandro became the fourth player this year to win two WSOP gold bracelets. The other three players are former Magic: The Gathering Card Game pro Brock Parker, “The Tiger Woods of Poker” Phil Ivey, and former professional hockey player Greg Mueller.

It took Lisandro seven long final tables at WSOP events over the years until he finally got his first bracelet in the $1,500 7-Card Stud event at 2007 series. Then Lisandro made it to three more final tables before getting his second bracelet, in this year’s 2009 WSOP, also at the $2,500 7-Card Razz event. This might make Jeff Lisandro the King of 7-Card Stud, at least the currently reigning one.

This also makes Lisandro only the fifth poker player ever to win 3 WSOP bracelets. The last person to achieve that was Phil Ivey in 2008. (And on a side-note: another claim to Lisandro’s credit is of dual citizenship in Italy and Australia, despite California being his place of residence.

With two additional cashes on top of his four final table appearances in this year’s series, that makes Jeff Lisandro’s 2009 WSOP total winnings $807,491, and the series isn’t even over yet.

Also at the final table in this year’s Event #37 was the Godfather of Poker himself, Doyle Brunson, who got knocked out early, in 7th place. Brunson surpasses Lisandro, Ivey, and Parker put together, having won 10 World Series of Poker bracelets over his career.
