WSOP, Harrah’s, Caesar’s Online Poker & Casino Sites To Be Run By 888.com
The ex-head of PartyGaming (the company behind Party Poker) Mitch Garber is now (as of May 2009) the Chief Executive Officer of Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment which itself is the company that owns the World Series of Poker. All of which goes a long way to explain and demonstrate the continued shift from live brick-and-mortar gambling institutions to online poker rooms and casinos.
Harrah’s, the WSOP, and Caesar’s Casino UK are all getting poker sites of their own (all presumably to be interrelated in terms of promotions, etc.). And on Friday they announced another movement in that direction, namely the selection of their online poker software provider, which is to be 888, the company behind Pacific Poker.
Pacific Poker and 888 had to pull operations out of the U.S. when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed into law in 2006. But online poker players in the U.K. and throughout Europe, along with all other countries in which playing poker online is legal, can look forward to the same level of online poker gaming quality as that which you can find at Pacific Poker.com.
888.com is the 2nd largest internet gambling company in the United Kingdom. The deal with Harrah’s, the WSOP, and Caesar’s for their respective online poker and online casino offerings includes not only the poker gaming software, but customer support services and payment processing services as well.
Meanwhile, PartyGaming is lobbying (along with many others) for passage of both of Barney Frank’s bills which would create a way for online poker providers to serve U.S. customers legally. If and when that day ever comes, then the Harrahs, Caesar’s, and WSOP online poker and casino sites will hit U.S. shores as well.
In anticipation of a new Harrah’s WSOP poker site, we have published a WSOP bonus code page. If they end up offering additional bonuses and promotions, we will have the info for you right here.
