WSOP Online Poker Site Ready To Launch

WSOP Online Poker Site Ready To Launch

Harrah’s Interactive is getting ready to launch a WSOP online poker room based at WSOP.com.  Harrah’s, the owner of the largest casino group in the world and owner of the World Series of Poker is planning to launch a full online poker room at their flagship website WSOP.com as soon as this week.  There have been industry rumors of this development for a few months now with Harrah’s announcement of a partnership with online gambling giant 888.com, who has been contracted to develop the online poker software for WSOP.com online poker.

On WSOP.com, a statement at the bottom of the website has confirmed that Harrah’s and the World Series of Poker are getting into the online poker game.  Curiously, the text on the WSOP.com website is stated as if the online poker room were currently running although there is no option to play poker anywhere on the site yet.  WSOP.com states that the new online poker site will be called “WSOP”.

From WSOP.com:

For those players who are into online poker, WSOP.com allows people to play poker online for fun as well as enter tournaments for cash prizes. These online poker games allow players who cannot travel to a live tournament to enjoy the fun from the comfort of their own home.

It appears that WSOP.com Poker will be available for free play to everyone, with real money tournaments being offered to non-U.S. players only with the UIGEA rules set to go into full effect in less than two weeks.  If this statement can be taken at face value, it appears that WSOP Poker will not be getting into the cash game business, at least for now.  It seems logical that the largest poker tournament on the planet sticks to what it knows best and build a brand as the largest online poker tournament site online.

I would also assume that there will be plenty of World Series of Poker satellites and super satellites to win seats to the live WSOP.

With the mass popularity of the World Series of Poker and the large amount of web traffic that WSOP.com already receives, WSOP should immediately become a significant player in the online poker market.  I will be curious to see how hard the World Series of Poker will advertise the online WSOP poker site.  Currently, WSOP.net redirects to the WSOP.com homepage, but will most likely be developed into a free poker site like all the other free “.net” poker sites that are allowed to advertise to American audiences.

Stay tuned, we will have full coverage and reviews of WSOP as soon as it opens its doors.  For now bookmark our WSOP Bonus page, where we will post a bonus code and bonus information as soon as it is available.
