For Mac users who are looking to play online Texas holdem, it can be tough to find the right Mac compatible online poker site to play at. I bought a Mac notebook recently, and I had to search for online poker rooms that support Mac computers. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use download or no download poker software. I wasn’t sure which poker room would work and look best on my Mac.

Luckily, I have a lot of online poker experience, so I know which poker rooms have the best Texas holdem action. So I have tried out a bunch of Mac poker rooms and found out which online poker rooms offer the best online Texas Holdem for a Mac.

#3 - Full Tilt Poker US players welcome

Full Tilt Poker is a strong online poker room with a lot of Texas holdem players online at any given time. There are tons of no limit Holdem games going and there is pretty soft competition at most levels.

Full Tilt Poker is well known for their “Play With The Pros” slogan and they deliver on that promise. I have personally played with many pros, including WSOP winner Huck Seed. (I beat him in a heads up sit and go. Go me!) You will often see Phil Ivey, David Benyamine, and many others playing at limits up to $1000 / $2000.

#2 - Party Poker - No US players

Party Poker released their Mac poker software in mid-2007 and it has been bullet-proof ever since. They offer both a download version and a no-download version of their excellent poker software platform.

Party has some of the best Texas Holdem cash games on the planet. I am very disappointed that I cannot play there anymore since I am an American. Party Poker has some of the best Texas Holdem tournaments as well. They do not offer a huge variety of non-standard poker game variations, so a big percentage of the players at Party Poker play Texas Holdem only.

There is great action at all levels of play. I don’t mean to come off sounding biased, but European players are absolutely crazy and aggressive. It can be difficult to play against them since they will make some crazy plays and get lucky. It can be frustrating, but most of the time they spew off tons of chips. Hopefully you end up with them, not someone else.

PokerStars released a download version of their poker software to the public in late 2007. I was particularly excited for Poker Stars for a Mac to be released. PokerStars is my favorite poker site, and the one that I rate the highest here on Holdem Review. PokerStars’ Mac software is very smooth despite being fairly new, and is nearly indistinguishable from the Windows based version.

Sharp game play is very important at PokerStars to keep up with all of the great Texas Holdem action. Poker Stars is the largest poker site in the world, with well over 150,000 players on at peak times. No other site has more than 100,000 at peak times.

There are dozens of Texas Holdem tables available to play on your Mac at any time of day or night. I particularly like the action at the lower no-limit holdem tables. There are truly plenty of fish in the sea at Poker Stars.
