About Wire Transfer Poker Deposit

A wire transfer deposit is simply asking your bank to transfer funds to your online poker site’s bank.  There is generally a small fee charged by your bank to complete a wire transfer.  I have been charged $10 to $20 in the past by Citibank, regardless of the amount of money being transferred. You should contact your bank before making a wire transfer deposit if you are worried about fees though.  They may be higher for your particular bank.  Some poker sites instantly credit your transferred funds to your online poker site account, while others may make you wait a few days for the bank wire transfer to clear both banks.  It usually takes me 2-3 days to receive funds that I cash out (withdraw) to reach my bank from the time I request the wire transfer.

Making a Poker Deposit Using a Wire Transfer

When you request to make a deposit via wire transfer, your online poker site will provide you with some bank information.  You must give this information to your bank to send money to.  Your bank will then send money via wire transfer to your online poker site’s bank.  The information you need to complete a wire transfer poker deposit is:

Mandatory bank information:

  • Poker site’s bank name
  • Poker site’s bank routing number
  • Poker site’s bank account number

Bank information not needed all the time:

  • Poker site’s SWIFT code (not needed for all wire transfers)
  • Poker site’s bank address (not needed for all wire transfers)

Wire Transfer Poker Deposit Alternatives

Wire transfer poker deposits are recommended for players depositing large amounts of money ($5,000+) and many poker sites will request that high rollers use wire transfers to deposit large amounts of money.  If you are a high limit player, contact customer service and they will help you deposit large amounts of funds through a wire transfer.  They will often waive any wire transfer fees if you request them to.

That being said, if you are not a high limit player looking to transfer lots of money, you should look into depositing using instant e-checks.  The process for using echecks is very similar to the wire transfer deposit process, but is instant at all of the poker sites listed above, and poker sites do not charge any fees on e-checks.
